BLUE-MED Project

With the aim of setting up a comprehensive and flexible operating model capable, on the one hand, to timely and accurately detect new incursions or circulation of Bluetongue virus (BTV) strains and, on the other hand to prevent and/or control their spread in the Mediterranean region, the research project will investigate the genetic and environmental factors that can affect viral spread and transmission, and consequently the incidence and control of different BTV strains in different regions. It will also refine current diagnostic systems and explore the basis for improved control strategies.
